Originally, the Avenger was a coupe known mainly in the USA. In 2000, the model was withdrawn from the market and replaced by the Dodge Stratus. In turn, seven years later it was the Avenger that replaced the Stratus as a 4-door sedan and was also introduced to the European market. The model was designed by Ryan Nagode of the Chrysler office. What is torque limiter?

A torque limiter is an automatic device that protects mechanical equipment, or its work, from damage by mechanical overload. A torque limiter may limit the torque by slipping (as in a friction plate slip-clutch), or uncoupling the load entirely (as in a shear pin). The action of a torque limiter is especially useful to limit any damage due to crash stops and jams.

What is Shift time?

Shift time refers to the time interval between gear changes in transmission. This interval is the time in which power delivery is transferred to the next selected gear and engine speed is reduced or increased to synchronize the speed of the next gear. What is an Longitudinal engine?

This type of motor is usually used for rear-wheel drive cars, except for some Audi and SAAB models equipped with longitudinal engines in front wheel drive. In front-wheel drive cars a transverse engine is usually used. Trucks often have longitudinal engines with rear-wheel drive.

What is an epicyclic gearset?

An epicyclic gear train (also known as a planetary gear set) consists of two gears mounted so that the center of one gear revolves around the center of the other. A carrier connects the centers of the two gears and rotates the planet and sun gears mesh so that their pitch circles roll without slipping. A point on the pitch circle of the planet gear traces an epicycloid curve. In this simplified case, the sun gear is fixed and the planetary gear(s) roll around the sun gear.
