Originally, the Avenger was a coupe known mainly in the USA. In 2000, the model was withdrawn from the market and replaced by the Dodge Stratus. In turn, seven years later it was the Avenger that replaced the Stratus as a 4-door sedan and was also introduced to the European market. The model was designed by Ryan Nagode of the Chrysler office. What is torque limiter?

A torque limiter is an automatic device that protects mechanical equipment, or its work, from damage by mechanical overload. A torque limiter may limit the torque by slipping (as in a friction plate slip-clutch), or uncoupling the load entirely (as in a shear pin). The action of a torque limiter is especially useful to limit any damage due to crash stops and jams.

What is Shift time?

Shift time refers to the time interval between gear changes in transmission. This interval is the time in which power delivery is transferred to the next selected gear and engine speed is reduced or increased to synchronize the speed of the next gear. Shift time is usually about motor vehicles but can apply to any gearbox. Reducing shift time is important in performance vehicles or race cars because the shifting process generally interrupts power delivery to the wheels. What is an Longitudinal engine?

This type of motor is usually used for rear-wheel drive cars, except for some Audi and SAAB models equipped with longitudinal engines in front wheel drive. In front-wheel drive cars a transverse engine is usually used. Trucks often have longitudinal engines with rear-wheel drive.

For motorcycles, the use of a particular type depends on the drive: in case of a chain or belt drive a transverse engine is usually used, and with shaft drives a longitudinal engine. Longitudinal engines in motorcycles do have one disadvantage: the “tipping point” of the crankshaft tilts along the entire motorcycle to a greater or lesser degree when accelerating. This is partly resolved by having other components, such as the generator and the gearbox, rotate in the opposite direction to the crankshaft.

ZF 6HP Bosch transmission is a 6-speed transmission with a Hydraulic converter and Planetary gearsets. The 6HP uses an epicyclic gearset, which can provide more gear ratios with significantly fewer components. This is what makes it much lighter than 5HP.

What is an epicyclic gearset?

An epicyclic gear train (also known as a planetary gear set) consists of two gears mounted so that the center of one gear revolves around the center of the other. A carrier connects the centers of the two gears and rotates the planet and sun gears mesh so that their pitch circles roll without slipping.
